TAKA is an architectural practice based in dublin, ireland.
our practice is focused on creating buildings, places and moments which have a distinct character.
our approach involves a careful and economic approach to materials and construction, and a first-principles approach to sustainability. we collaborate closely with clients, professional consultants, and expert makers to ensure the ambitions of projects are met and exceeded.
a continuing level of excellence in the built work of the practice is recognised by multiple national and international awards and worldwide publication.
TAKA has exhibited in the venice architectural biennale in 2008 and co-curated the irish pavilion in 2010. In the 2018 venice biennale, TAKA were chosen to exhibit in the central pavilion as part of the close encounter group show.
TAKA has received awards including an international brick award, multiple aai and riai awards, shotlisted for the mies van der rohe eu award for contemporary architecture. TAKA were finalists in the 2014 bd young architect of the year and the 2019 royal academy dorfman award. in 2019 TAKA won the ar peter davey prize for emerging architecture.
TAKA have experience in a wide range of project types ranging from domestic extensions to commercial and public buildings.

alice studied architecture in tu dublin (dit) graduating in 2003. after spending time gaining professional experience in london and dublin, alice co-founded TAKA in dublin in 2007.
alice has taught architecture in ucd, queen’s university belfast, and tu dublin – where she currently teaches in the masters in architecture and professional diploma in architectural practice courses.
alice holds a phd by practice from rmit, is an riai architect accredited in conservation at grade 3, and is registered with the architect’s registration board in the uk. alice examines candidates for membership of the riai and has been a member of the royal institute of architects of ireland since 2007.
